Why reading aloud to your toddler matters

Remember the short stories that you mother read out to you at bedtime? Wasn’t that time a favourite with you? Well researchers says that reading aloud has various advantages with zero disadvantages. Loud reading during early childhood is as impactful as it is as we grow older.
In the initial years reading aloud has the maximum impact and there are several benefits of the same ;

  1. Opening the mind to great imagination –It takes the children into wonderland and helps building their creativity and acquire deeper learning
  2. Bringing the characters alive-The child feels that he is actually living in the story, cultivating listening skills and comprehension skills without any formal lesson
  3. Improving diction and pronunciation – It enhances the vocabulary as children get exposed to new words and try to find out the meaning of the same and using it in their conversations bringing about fluency in conversation
    4.Voice modulation – This enables us in teaching the eager minds to recognize emotions and also learn to respond to them
  4. Effective public speaking -As the child grows older this continues to help in participating in meaningful discussions which encourage listeners to get more information and improve their broadl and imaginative potential.

All in all, listening to stories in the early years, not only helps in boosting the ability to put thoughts and feelings into words, but also forming great communicators.
